About Santa Claus:
The origins of Santa Claus come from St. Nicolas born in the year 270. St. Nicolas earned the reputation of a gift giver. One might say St. Nicolas delivered random acts of kindness. A Dutch tradition known as Sinterklaas kept the story of of St. Nicolas alive and well. The very first mention of Santa Claus appears in a New York City newspaper in 1773. The 1822 poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” first introduced the idea that Santa Claus used reindeer to fly his magical sleigh.
